چکیده
The aim of this study was to investigate bacterial contamination on surfaces randomly selected Automated Teller Machine and their sensitivity antibiotics in São Paulo city, Brazil. swabs collected aseptically were inoculated selective non-selective media triplicate incubated at 37 °C for 24 h. After Gram staining the isolated colonies, complementary biochemical tests applied. antibiotic pattern all isolates (15 Gram-positive bacteria 7 Gram-negative bacteria) determined using Kirk Bauer method chloramphenicol, clindamycin, norfloxacin, erythromycin, gentamicin tetracycline diffusion discs. All ATM tested contaminated with least one genus bacteria. most frequently Staphylococcus aureus (64%), Enterococcus spp. (28%) Acinetobacter (21%), followed by coagulase-negative staphylococci (14%), Pseudomonas 12 Salmonella (7%), Escherichia coli (7%). ATMs metropolitan region shown be that are resistant commonly used antibiotics. multidrug-resistant, however, strains sensitive (S) or showed an intermediate response profile (I) tetracycline, exception three spp., aureus, which tetracycline. Norfloxacin resistance Based these findings, it is recommended perform hand washing use antiseptics after ATMs.

Antibiotic Resistance Pattern of Bacteria Isolated from Automated Teller Machines in Sari, Iran
Background and purpose: Nowadays, widespread use of automated teller machines (ATMs), has increased the possibility of contamination of hands due to contact with the surfaces of these devices. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of bacterial contamination and antibiotic resistance pattern of the isolated bacteria from the keyboard of these devices in Sari, north of Iran. Materials ...
متن کاملBacterial Contamination and Antibiotic Resistance of Staphylococcus Aureus Isolated from Automated Teller Machine
Abstract Background and Objective: Automated Teller Machine (ATMs) is likely to be contaminated with various microorganisms specially pathogen germs. This may be due to their exposure to dust and their vast dermal contact with multiple users. This study investigated the bacterial contamination on the keyboard of ATMs and drug resistance of the bacteria isolated from them. Material and M...
متن کاملMultidrug-resistant urinary tract isolates of escherichia coli from Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, Brazil.
Multiple resistances to antimicrobial drugs arising in Escherichia coli isolates may complicate therapeutic management of urinary tract infection (UTI) by this organism. In order to assess the multidrug resistance (MDR) among urinary E. coli isolates, we have tested 11 antimicrobial drugs against 67 isolates from outpatients attended in a tertiary-care teaching hospital and of 78 isolates from ...
